David J. Friedman is a business and intellectual property attorney with a private practice, in-house, and public sector experience. His private practice experience includes Riebling IP and Katten Muchin Rosenman. David is co-author of the popular legal treatise Intellectual Property and Unfair Competition in a Nutshell published by West Academic, as well as other legal references covering patents and computer software.
Whether as in-house counsel or in private practice, David focuses his work on contracts, intellectual property, privacy, and corporate law. Through close work with executive, sales, engineering, and IT teams, David advances company interests through internal counseling, drafting contracts, negotiating business transactions, building and protecting intellectual property portfolios, updating or implementing privacy programs, and resolving disputes through judicial or administrative processes.
David earned a J.D. from the Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional and is admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Maryland, and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
